Khao Phra Thaeo is one of Thailand’s best-conditioned rain forest, situated in Thalang district. The 22.28-square-kilometre unspoiled forest successfully conserves a large number of wild annimals, including tropical gibbons, boars and monkeys, as well as rare trees and plants, such as the Governor's Palm or White Back Palm, a rare type of palm trees which are found aplenty here. Khao Phra Thaeo also serves as one of Phuket's most important freshwater sources. Travelers may choose to enjoy relaxing at either Ton Sai or Bang Pae waterfalls, two main freshwater attractions, or trek along the designated trails to enjoy the lush green forest.
