Attraction Details :
The Sanctuary of Truth, a wooden sanctuary located by the sea of Pattaya, is the largest wooden building in Thailand which was built by the idea of Mr. Lek Viriyaphant, the founder of “Muang Boran” (Ancient City) and the Erawan Museum in Samutprakan province.
The sanctuary has a unique architectural style. It was entirely made of wood without pieces of metal such as nuts and nails used. The process during the construction only involved ancient Thai carpentry techniques such as dowelling, bolting and wedging. It also exhibits marvelous crafted wooden sculptures which beautifully portray philosophical stories of certain things in an abstract way through a concrete form and reflect the attitudes, wisdoms, morals and philosophies of the Eastern World.
The Sanctuary of Truth is truly the work of architecture and sculpture of the century. It received the Best Travel Destination Award from The Thai Tourism Industry Awards in 2008.
Apart from the beauty of the Sanctuary of Truth, there are also many activities in the area that tourists can enjoy such as taking a horse carriage ride, riding an elephant or ATV to see around the sanctuary and taking a speed boat to enjoy the view from the sea. Moreover, there are Thai cultural performances and dolphin show, along with the “Krua Na Klua” restaurant available to service the tourists.
The Sanctuary of Truth is located at the Rachawet Cape of Pattaya city, Na Klua Sub-district, Bang La Mung District, Chonburi Province with the entrance at Soi Na Klua 12. Tourists who would like to see the beauty and the greatness of The Sanctuary of Truth can visit the place every day from 8.00 am. to 6.00 pm. Thai cultural performances are performed two rounds at 11.30 am. and 3.30 pm.
